Why YULUSA Was Built
I started YULUSA because I’ve lived the journey—of building, scaling, and transforming businesses across borders, sectors, and inflection points.
Over the years, I’ve sat on all sides of the table: as a founder pitching to investors, as an operator building teams across continents, and as a partner forging multi-million-dollar alliances with global tech giants. What I learned is this: great strategy means nothing without execution—and execution is impossible without clarity.
YULUSA was born to offer both.

The Origin and Spirit of YULUSA
A Name Forged in Global Movement
YULUSA began as a convergence of global roots—YUL (Montréal, Canada) and USA (United States)—a reflection of our founder’s binational identity and international leadership journey. But its meaning has deepened to encompass something more profound: a connection to place, purpose, and the original innovation culture of our home in Florida. YULUSA also honors the Calusa—an indigenous people who once thrived along Florida’s Gulf Coast, where we are proudly based.
The Calusa: Florida’s Original Innovators
The Calusa were one of the most technologically advanced and politically complex Indigenous civilizations in North America.
They built vast canal systems, engineered shell-based islands (mounds) for ceremonial and residential use, and created sustainable food systems based entirely on marine harvesting—eschewing agriculture altogether in favor of a highly adaptive, systems-based model.
They constructed intricate tools, fish weirs, and net systems using coastal technologies, and established a hierarchical society with diplomatic and trade influence stretching across the southeastern United States and into the Caribbean.
In short, the Calusa were engineers, environmental designers, and systems thinkers—centuries ahead of their time. We are proud to associate our name with theirs.
